Alan Brazil aims dig at Rangers, gives one-word response to Agbonlahor question
Alan Brazil and Gabriel Agbonlahor have looked ahead to Rangers facing Fenerbahce in their Europa League last-16 tie.
Barry Ferguson’s Rangers head into Thursday’s clash at Ibrox with a 3-1 aggregate lead over Jose Mourinho’s side, having seen goals from Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny put them in control in Istanbul.
With Rangers two goals to the good as Ferguson looks to build on the European foundations laid by his predecessor Philippe Clement, Ibrox is expected to be a cauldron as the Light Blues bid to finish the job.
A place in the last eight against either Roma or Athletic Bilbao awaits should Ferguson’s side press home their advantage on Thursday, but that’s be much easier said than done with Mourinho in the dugouts.

Brazil launches new Rangers jibe amid Agbonlahor question
Rangers producing one of the shocks of the season in Europe to dispatch Fenerbahce on their own turf leaves them as heavy favourites to progress to the quarter-finals, albeit some are rooting for the visitors.
Fenerbahce | Statistics | Rangers |
1 | Goals | 3 |
1.80 | xG | 1.82 |
7 | Shots on target | 6 |
64 per cent | Possession | 36 per cent |
11 | Corners | 3 |
One of those hoping to see an away win is Alan Brazil, who when discussing Thursday’s match with Gabby Agbonlahor on talkSPORT (13 March, 8:45am), couldn’t disguise his bias against the Gers.
Brazil said: “Rangers, against… come on Fenerbahce! Oh no, no, no, I didn’t mean that.”
“Could they go all the way, Rangers?”, Agbonlahor asked.
Brazil hit straight back: “No.”

Rangers in driving seat ahead of Fenerbahce clash
Rangers may be heading into Thursday’s clash at Ibrox two goals up on aggregate and full of confidence after their 3-1 win at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, but their recent form at Ibrox is a cause for concern.
The Light Blues have lost their last three straight home games in all competitions, slumping to a new low at Ibrox amid a spell of disastrous form which ultimately cost Clement his job last month.
After creating unwanted history by losing at home to Championship side Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, and following that up with a 2-0 Premiership defeat to St Mirren, the Belgian was shown the door.
Ferguson was unable to reverse the slide in his first match at Ibrox with a 2-1 loss to Motherwell, but going into Thursday’s match with a two-goal cushion surely gives the Rangers legend enough leeway to pick up a first home victory in interim charge.
