Robin Propper injury update emerges for Rangers v Fenerbahce at Ibrox

Barry Ferguson has provided an injury update on Robin Propper as Rangers face Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.

Ibrox will host Jose Mourinho’s team on 13 March in the second leg of the last-16 as the Light Blues look to qualify for the next round.

Ferguson steered the Gers to victory at the Ulker Stadium and have a two-goal advantage in the tie after beating the Turkish outfit 3-1 in the reverse fixture.

Propper was substituted in the first half against Fenerbahce last time out after a clash of heads with Jack Butland, and an update has been provided on his availability.

Ferguson waits as Propper takes part in Rangers training

Propper has taken part in the Glaswegian outfit’s recent training sessions, Ferguson says.

The interim manager revealed that the centre-back has been training with his teammates ahead of facing the Istanbul club at Ibrox.

Ferguson hopes to have everyone available but admits that he will need to wait until tomorrow to know who’s fit enough to play.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference on X (12 March), the Scotsman said: “Propper had a couple of training sessions. Ideally, I would love to have everyone available, but I will need to wait and see tomorrow morning if I have a full squad available.

“There are two or three I hope have come through the session today.”

Ibrox will be behind Ferguson v Fenerbahce

While Rangers fans didn’t have much hope from the Europa League, beating Fenerbahce in the first leg was encouraging.

The Gers have been inconsistent throughout the season, but their performances in the European competition have been up to par on most occasions.

Ferguson changed the defensive setup during the first leg, playing three central defenders, which evidently worked wonders.

Leon Balogun replaced Propper in the first leg, and it would make sense for the Nigerian defender to start against the Turkish outfit at Ibrox.

The Dutch centre-back has had a tough debut season in Scotland, and he has been unable to convince fans of his qualities so far.

Balogun and John Souttar have been the Light Blues’ best defenders this season, and the Ibrox faithful will be confident of keeping Mourinho’s team at bay.

The Bears have nothing left to play for in the Scottish Premiership, making the Europa League their only saving grace until the end of the season.
