Super Computer makes shock Rangers v Fenerbahce prediction in Europa League
Rangers maintained their impressive Europa League form with a 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce in Istanbul last week.
The Light Blues’ triumph over Jose Mourinho’s men has left Barry Ferguson on the brink of sensationally reaching the quarter-finals.
Rangers host Fenerbahce in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie on Thursday.
The Gers have endured a tricky domestic campaign, with Philippe Clement sacked after defeat against St Mirren, with Motherwell also winning at Ibrox recently.

Fenerbahce set to defeat Rangers, says supercomputer
Interim manager Ferguson has not been able to turn around Rangers’ domestic woes yet, as their 2-1 defeat at home to Motherwell on 1 March marked the third consecutive defeat at Ibrox.
But under Ferguson’s stewardship, the Light Blues have continued their increasingly impressive Europa League campaign, with that 3-1 win in Istanbul.
Opponent | Result |
Tottenham (H) | 1-1 D |
Manchester United (A) | 2-1 L |
Union St Gilloise (H) | 2-1 W |
Fenerbahce (A) | 1-3 W |
However, Opta’s supercomputer has outlined that Fenerbahce have a shock 41.3 per cent chance of winning at Ibrox, compared to Rangers’ 33.1 per cent chance of emerging victorious.
The supercomputer also predicts that there is a 25.6 per cent likelihood of a draw in Glasgow between Ferguson’s Light Blues and Mourinho’s side.
Following their 3-1 win in Turkiye last week, a draw or even a narrow defeat would do for Rangers as they strive to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
However, any sort of defeat to Fenerbahce would come as a major surprise for the Ibrox faithful, who have seen their side suffer just one home defeat in the Europa League this term.

Defeating Fenerbahce at Ibrox would be a vital result for Rangers
Despite the supercomputer’s prediction, Light Blues supporters would be shocked to see their side fall to defeat at the hands of Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, after their side showed just how good they can be during last week’s two-goal triumph.
Furthermore, Rangers have not lost a Europa League game on home turf since their 4-1 defeat to French giants Lyon back in early October.
Although a one-goal defeat to Fenerbahce would still see the Gers through to the quarter-finals, achieving another victory over Mourinho on Thursday could prove to be a huge result for Ferguson.
While their European home form has been admirably solid, Ibrox has not been enough of a fortress in recent weeks, as demonstrated by Rangers’ 1-0 home defeat to Championship side Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup on 9 February.
Another win over Fenerbahce could give the Light Blues the confidence they need ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm Derby with Celtic, and to enjoy a more fruitful end to the domestic campaign.
If the Gers beat Mourinho’s side, they can also fancy their chances of winning some previously unlikely European silverware.
