Barry Ferguson ‘devastated’ by shock Rangers development
Barry Ferguson has had an up and down start to life as interim head coach at Rangers.
The 47-year-old returned to Ibrox last month on a deal until the end of the season with a view to stabilising his former side.
It did appear to make perfect sense to bring the ex-midfielder back to Govan to replace Philippe Clement after he was unsurprisingly sacked.
With that being said, it hasn’t been a dream start to life back with the Gers as the defeat in his second game is seemingly weighing heavy.

Ferguson gutted after Rangers defeat v Motherwell
There is positivity surrounding the Light Blues right now after the first leg win away to Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday (6 March).
This was further proof of the European credentials of the Ibrox club, which consistently shows itself on the biggest stage.
Regardless of success on the continent, it is the Scottish Premiership form that Neil Lennon believes will frustrate the interim head coach.
Speaking to the Daily Record (9 March), the former Celtic boss shared his belief that the defeat against Motherwell will have seriously impacted Ferguson.
He said: “He’ll have been devastated by the Well result. Whether he’s manager of Clyde, Kelty Hearts, Alloa or Rangers, his personal pride is on the line. So he’ll have felt it. He wouldn’t be human if he didn’t.”

Rangers continue to blow hot and cold under Ferguson
Under Clement, there was many an occasion where the Gers would fall to defeat against a side they should have comfortably beaten.
This issue was largely papered over by success in European competition where the Light Blues put in excellent performances against Nice, Tottenham and Manchester United, despite a defeat in the latter.
Despite this positivity in the Europa League, the Belgian head coach came under heavy fire for recent defeats against Queens Park and St Mirren before he was sacked.
Although Ferguson is only on an interim contract, he won’t want to face a similar fate and will be keen to secure positive results in the league on a more regular basis.
Date | Opponent | Result | |

01/03/25 | (H) | Motherwell | 1-2 (L) |

Old Firm rivals Celtic very rarely fall to defeat in the Premiership and when they do, they know how to immediately bounce back.
This is something that the temporary boss needs to instill in his side or risk ending the season in frustrating fashion once again.
