Rangers defender Robin Propper destroyed by pundit – ‘That’s criminal’
Andy Halliday was left fuming with what he saw Rangers defender Robin Propper doing recently.
Gers lost their first game under Barry Ferguson, in what was his second game in charge, as Motherwell beat them 2-1 at Ibrox.
Propper started that game alongside James Tavernier but was taken off by the manager midway through the contest.
Gers defender Robin Propper slammed for ‘Criminal’ defending
The Gers centre-back played a big role in the concession of the opening goal, which was scored by Luke Armstrong.
While Cyriel Dessers also had a fair share of blame in the incident, Propper’s positioning was questionable, to say the least.
He failed to get out in time, which played two Motherwell players onside and for that the hosts paid the price, conceding early in the game.
They never managed to recover from it and bar a second-half goal, there was very little to write home about.
Reacting to this goal on Open Goal on 4 March, Halliday said at 34:45: “The way I’m seeing people analyse that first goal, I think that’s criminal.”
Rafa Benitez is unlikely to want Robin Propper to stay at Rangers
Rafa Benitez has been linked with the Gers job and he’s a manager who primarily focuses on the defensive organisation of a side.
Propper’s lack of discipline at the back has proven costly time and again this season.

The Dutchman has a mountain to climb to justify his place in the Rangers squad for the 2025-26 season, as his performances this term have been far from convincing.
Signed from FC Twente for £1.5 million, the 31-year-old was expected to bring experience and solidity, but he’s struggled to adapt to the Scottish Premiership’s pace and physicality.
His lack of aggression and poor aerial defending have proven to be costly and he has become a liability in a season where Rangers have faltered, trailing Celtic by 16 points.
