Rangers exclusive: Nicolas Raskin injury development emerges
Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin has taken the right decision to mitigate injury risk, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert is referencing an interview with the Belgian, in which he explained the changes he’s made behind the scenes to be on top of his fitness.
This was mainly towards losing weight and the huge benefits it has at the elite level.

Nicolas Raskin is one of the most important players at Rangers
Speaking to the Scotsman back in December, the 24-year-old admitted that his injury record at the club was concerning.
That led to him changing the food he was served behind the scenes, and that helped him lose weight.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “He’s talking about using nutrition to lower his weight, which can lower the impact on your joints, tendons, etc.
“For example, we know the certain muscles in your lower body take up to nine times your body weight when running, so even a mild loss in weight can have a significant impact.
“It’s difficult to know if other injury prone players are or aren’t doing it but it’s certainly a key tool in the tool bag and one that most top clubs offer to their players and some demand of them.
“I think it’s the right call taken by him and it seems to have benefited him.“

Barry Ferguson will be thrilled with Nicolas Raskin’s professionalism
Rarely do players notice a pattern with their fitness and take things into their own hands to rectify it.
Even though Barry Ferguson was not there when Raskin did this, he certainly will be pleased with his professionalism.

The hierarchy also seems to value the Belgian as he has been handed the captain’s armband too in James Tavernier’s absence.
Fans will be hoping that he can continue doing more of this and be a role model for the rest of the players on and off the pitch.
