Jim White slams Philippe Clement ‘wisdom’ on talkSPORT after Rangers admission

Jim White is left scratching his head after Philippe Clement issued a letter to Rangers fans after being sacked as their manager.

Rangers were left with no option but to fire Clement after a humiliating 2-0 defeat against St Mirren in front of their own fans at Ibrox on 22 February.

The Premiership heavyweights made the decision to pull the plug on the Belgian tactician after a board meeting the following day and quickly appointed Barry Ferguson as their head coach until the end of the season.

Fans saw the last of Clement on 24 February when he was spotted leaving Auchenhowie for the final time.

White unsure about Clement letter to Rangers fans

It has been over a week since the 50-year-old was sacked and he has now issued a letter to the Rangers fans (4 March), admitting his disappointment at not meeting expectations at Ibrox.

White, though, was far from impressed by the words as he questioned the “wisdom” behind making such a statement after the manager had left the club.

Speaking on talkSPORT, White said (4 March, 12:04 pm): “Clement has issued a letter. I’m never really sure about the wisdom of doing such a thing to the Rangers fans now that he has gone.”

The radio show host’s confusion remained ever after reading an excerpt from the letter and he asked Simon Jordan if those words resonate with the supporters at all.

“Does that resonate at all, do you think, with the supporters?”, he asked Jordan.

Clement suffers fresh blow after Ibrox exit

Any hopes Clement may have had about landing a new job immediately after being sacked by Rangers have come crashing down.

The former Monaco boss was previously linked with a return to management in Belgium with Royal Antwerp but appears to have suffered a fresh blow in that regard.

It has emerged that Andries Ulderink is now in the frame to take the reins at Antwerp.

Dutch news outlet NLSportnieuws reported via X on 3 March that Clement’s former assistant at Rangers is set to take charge of the Pro League outfit.
