Jack Butland axed, three changes – Rangers predicted XI v Fenerbahce

Barry Ferguson could make three changes to his Rangers side as they prepare for Europa League action at Ibrox against Fenerbahce.

Off the back of yet another disappointing home defeat, this time a 2-1 loss to Motherwell, Rangers simply need to get back to winning ways.

The current campaign has been a dismal one for the Light Blues, and the Europa League is their only remaining chance of silverware, following exits from both domestic cups, matched with a 16 point gap from Celtic in the league.

In order to achieve that result, Ferguson could axe one of his first team regulars, making two other changes in the process against Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Ferguson to drop Jack Butland v Fenerbahce

The first of three changes could come in goal for Rangers, with Liam Kelly replacing Jack Butland after his dismal display against Motherwell.

Butland was directly at fault for the opening goal after just nine minutes at Ibrox, while looking uncomfortable from that minute onward.

As for the defence, there may just be the one change with Jefte expected to drop out of the XI in favour of a return for Leon Balogun, with James Tavernier moving back to his preferred right-back position.

Jefte struggled to impress last time out, and a break from the spotlight will do him the world of good.

A trio of Mohamed Diomande, Nico Raskin and Connor Barron could rotate in midfield, the latter of which has only recently returned from injury for Rangers.

Diomande has had a mixed campaign so far, but the faith instilled in him by Ferguson appears to have motivated him, with his reaction to that faith showcased by his performances on the pitch as of late.

Rangers to stick with attacking trio v Fenerbahce

Ferguson is likely to stick with the same attacking lineup as the one deployed against Motherwell, despite their woes in front of goal.

Vaclav Cerny has been an influential figure at Ibrox this season and should retain his place wide right, with Hamza Igmane starting on the opposite flank.

Cyriel Dessers, having scored Rangers’ only goal of the game against Motherwell, should lead the line yet again for the Light Blues in what is likely to be a close encounter against the Turkish giants.
