Graeme Souness makes Rangers transfer call as he shakes his head at takeover news
Rangers’ potential takeover continues to dominate conversations after defeat against Motherwell on Saturday.
It has been all change at Ibrox of late after Philippe Clement was finally sacked following defeat against St Mirren on 22 February.
Barry Ferguson has since been appointed as interim boss until the end of the season but his future holds some uncertainty, with Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises are looking to complete a takeover.

Graeme Souness offers 49ers instructions
It has been a disastrous season for Rangers who find themselves sitting 16 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
A 2-1 loss at the hands of Motherwell on Saturday (1 March) has left plenty of questions asking where Rangers go from here.
| Scottish Premiership | 2nd (16 points behind Celtic) |
| Scottish League Cup | Lost the final on penalties to Celtic |
| Scottish Cup | Knocked out in the fifth round, beaten by Queen’s Park |
| Europa League | Round of 16 v Fenerbahce (ongoing) |
Although Clement had to take some responsibility for the terrible season the Light Blues have had, there are certainly some questions being directed towards the hierarchy at Ibrox too.
Therefore, the potential of a takeover by the 49ers could change everything for the Glasgow outfit, who require investment to be able to compete at the levels expected of them.
However, Graeme Souness was left shaking his head when asked about the deal and sent a sobering warning to supporters.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Souness said: “Yeah, I obviously want to see Rangers successful and I think if there were to be, if someone came in and had the financial capabilities to go out and buy better players that can only be good news.
“It doesn’t guarantee anything but it would be good news.”
Ibrox takeover could change everything
The disappointment of Rangers this term is not so much because they’ve missed out on winning things but rather because they have been miles away from any possibility of success.
There have always been a level of standards at Ibrox which has seen them as a club competing at the top of the table as well as in cup competitions.
However, the Scottish Premiership was out of sight by Christmas and the gap between the Gers and the top of the table is only widening too.

You can understand why Souness may be keen to keep expectations in check as a takeover at Rangers would not automatically equal success and there would still be plenty of work to do.
That being said, new owners would surely mean the Light Blues could start attracting a higher level of staff and players in the hope of taking the club forward.
In the meantime though, Ferguson will be putting all of his efforts into seeing his side through in the Europa League.
