Ferguson ‘not to blame’ for Rangers results in ‘serious’ Chris Sutton question
Chris Sutton has demanded an answer from Rangers about Barry Ferguson after their 2-1 loss to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.
Ibrox welcomed Stuart Kettlewell’s team on Saturday (1 March) and took home the three points after goals from Luke Armstrong and Tom Sparrow in the first half.
Cyriel Dessers gave Barry Ferguson some hope with his goal in the 54th minute, but it ended up being nothing but consolation for the Light Blues.
The Gers icon replaced Philippe Clement at the Bears, but some “serious” questions need to be answered at the Bears ahead of next season.

Sutton questions Ferguson permanent role at Rangers
Sutton believes Ferguson is not to blame for the recent results at the Glaswegian outfit.
The Englishman feels the win against Kilmarnock on 26 February and the loss to Motherwell weren’t down to the interim manager, but has questioned whether he will be given the permanent role after the end of the campaign.

Sutton wonders what will transpire at the Gers once the season commences and there’s a decision to make on who the manager will be.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live 606 Football Phone In (2 March), the ex-Celtic ace said: “Serious question for Rangers fans. [Motherwell] was a sore one. In my opinion, they didn’t win [against Kilmarnock] because of Ferguson, and they didn’t lose [to Motherwell] because of him.
“But what needs to happen next season? Would you give the job to Ferguson?”
Ibrox needs massive changes after Ferguson
Patrick Stewart needs to make massive changes at Ibrox at the end of the campaign, with the most important decision being the change in manager.
Clement was rightly sacked at the Gers after failing to bring consistency to the team’s performances, but his sacking arguably came a bit too late.
Under the Belgian manager, the Light Blues saw their domestic season’s prospects diminish, being eliminated from the Scottish Cup and widening that gap with Celtic in the league.
With the Light Blues still alive in the Europa League, it feels like the Bears’ hierarchy had hoped the 50-year-old head coach would be able to pull off a miracle in the competition.
After some questionable displays, though, Clement was finally dismissed, and Ferguson was appointed at Ibrox temporarily.
The Gers icon was expected to give the team a new manager bounce, but that hasn’t happened.
While the Light Blues beat Kilmarnock, they had to make a comeback after going two goals down, and the defensive frailties were also on display against Motherwell.
Ferguson’s call to play James Tavernier at centre-back backfired against the Steelmen, highlighting his inability to take on the job permanently.
