Tony Watt has one-word message for Rangers after Motherwell win
Motherwell striker Tony Watt has taken to social media after his side beat Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday.
Watt’s Motherwell side came away from Govan with all three points to continue Rangers’ dismal spell of form, taking a 2-0 lead and staving off a fightback from Barry Ferguson’s side in the second half.
Rangers’ previously impregnable home form on the domestic front is now a thing of the past after three losses in a row to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, St Mirren and now Motherwell in the Premiership.
The Steelmen have already held the Gers to a 2-2 draw at Fir Park earlier this season, helping to spell the beginning of the end for Philippe Clement, and now they’ve piled further misery on Ferguson’s team.

Tony Watt reacts to Motherwell win at Rangers
Motherwell beating either of the Old Firm clubs in any season or competition is cause for celebration given the disparity in finances between Parkhead, Ibrox and Fir Park, and Saturday was no different.
One ‘Well player with an affiliation to the Old Firm – as a former Celtic player – is Tony Watt, who summed up the Motherwell mood with a one-word post on his Instagram story after full-time.
Sharing Mothwell’s own post of their 2-1 win, Watt’s said: “Sensational.”

Motherwell rub salt in Rangers wounds at Ibrox
Though it’s unlikely many Gers fans follow Watt on social media – given his association with their arch-rivlas – it’ll still be frustrating to see the ex-Celtic man making the most of Motherwell’s win at Ibrox.
Watt only came on in the 72nd minute on Saturday with the Steelmen already on course for their 2-1 victory; Cyriel Dessers having pulled a goal back for the Gers nine minutes into the second half.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | GD | Points |
1 | Celtic | 29 | 24 | 3 | 2 | +70 | 75 |
2 | Rangers | 29 | 18 | 5 | 6 | +33 | 59 |
3 | Hibernian | 29 | 11 | 10 | 8 | +4 | 43 |
However, three domestic defeats on the spin at Ibrox – after previously being unbeaten throughout the entire campaign – will set alarm bells ringing, showing that Clement’s sacking has failed to stop the rot.
Ferguson’s side showed the passion necessary to come back from 2-0 down and beat Kilmarnock 4-2 at Rugby Park in the Rangers legend’s first match, but no such heroics looked close to happening at Ibrox.
It’s a loss which leaves Gers fans wishing for the season to end as soon as possible, and though there’s no expectation that Ferguson will be given the job permanently, any chance of that may already be over.
