Ianis Hagi destroyed after what Barry Ferguson did at Rangers v Motherwell

Barry Ferguson will have been raging as Rangers fell to yet another Scottish Premiership defeat against Motherwell on Saturday.

Luke Armstrong and Thomas Sparrow sent the Steelmen two goals ahead at Ibrox, with Cyriel Dessers grabbing a consolation in the 2-1 defeat.

After a shocking first half against Motherwell, Ferguson was forced to ring the changes at the break again, taking off the likes of Ianis Hagi, who came in for a hiding.

Hagi torn to shreds after what he did v Motherwell

Ferguson tried to keep consistency with his team selection, rewarding those who shined at Kilmarnock in a 4-2 win last time out, but it was another embarrassing afternoon.

Hagi started on the left again, but was hauled off at the break with Stephen Craigan not surprised in a furious rant as the second half kicked off.

“He’s made a triple substitution, absolutely no surprise whatsoever,” Craigan said while live on BBC Radio Scotland (16:10).

“Leon Balogun is back onto the pitch, Tom Lawrence has come on and Bajrami has come on.

“Off has gone Robin Propper so the centre-half partnership is now James Tavernier and Leon Balogun.

“Hagi has gone off, no surprise there either, I just thought he was lifeless and he brought absolutely nothing to the game.”

Rangers need to find their form before next season

There’s no way of sugar-coating how terrible Rangers have performed this season.

Even though they brought in several new faces in the summer transfer window with the likes of Hamza Igamane and Vaclav Cerny arriving, they seem to be half the team they have been recently.

They’ve been miles off the pace since the season kicked off and their gap to arch-rivals Celtic only seems to be getting bigger.

Ferguson was brought in to try and stop a sinking ship from capsizing and while he’s doing his best, if the players don’t start to get out of second gear, they’ll have no chance of bettering these results next term.

The 2024/25 campaign is a write-off at this stage and if the Ibrox outfit performs to the standards they showed against Motherwell in their upcoming Europa League game against Fenerbahce, they may as well kiss any hopes they had for that competition goodbye as well.
