Chris Sutton immediately reacts with Rangers jibe after loss v Motherwell
Chris Sutton wasted no time in firing a dig at Rangers after they fell to another home defeat, this time at the hands of Motherwell.
Rangers fell to another dismal defeat at Ibrox with Motherwell coming away with all three points in a 2-1 win that marked Barry Ferguson’s first home game with a loss.
Despite Rangers showing some moments of quality, it was far from being enough to secure victory with the visitors making the most of a series of mistakes.
Jack Butland was to blame for the opening goal, before a sharp counter attack saw the visitors double their lead with the boos ringing around Ibrox upon the full time whistle, with Sutton adding more fuel to the fire after the game.

Rangers embarrass themselves yet again
As has been the case throughout the majority of the campaign, Rangers were simply not good enough on the day, showing a lack of quality in attack and a glaringly obvious vulnerability at the back, which Motherwell exploited.
The Light Blues recently sacked Philippe Clement, though it remains obvious that there are many more concerns that need to be addressed if Rangers are to get back to being a side capable of competing with Celtic.
Rangers v Motherwell | Goals | Shots | Possession |
Rangers | 1 | 22 | 65% |
Motherwell | 2 | 6 | 35% |
Supporters will be angry enough at the performance, though they will have even more to get frustrated over with Sutton spearheading the digs after the game.
As posted on his personal X account, Sutton said: “With Bazball not working today, Celtic have the chance to go 16 points clear at the top…”
If Celtic are to win, a 16-point gap would surely end the minimal chances of success that Rangers had left, leaving them with the Europa League as their only route for silverware.
However, based on performances as of late, any success through those means appears highly unlikely given the leel of opposition remaining in the competition.
Rangers are going down with a whimper
Just as you think Rangers are done embarrassing themselves, a result like this comes along and provides yet another reason for pessimism.
The regression at Ibrox has been dreadful, and until those in power realise that, nothing will change, and the gap from Celtic will continue to grow.
Some serious decisions need to be made in the summer, with the next managerial appointment certainly at the top of that list.
