Rangers news: Bombshell Ianis Hagi claim emerges as Jose Mourinho lurks

Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi has been linked with an exit this summer with Jose Mourinho understood to be keen on signing him.

The Romanian was part of a contractual stand-off with the club earlier this season but that dispute has been resolved and he has been reintegrated into the first team.

However, his future at the club is still understood to be unclear amid links to other European clubs.

Fenerbahce have no agreement to sign Ianis Hagi

Romanian news outlet Sportpesurse reported on 28 February that there were claims suggesting that Gheorghe Hagi had given his green signal to the Turkish club over a potential transfer for his son.

However, that is not understood to be the case and there is nothing concrete with regards to Fenerbahce signing the 26-year-old.

Hagi himself is not keen on linking up with Mourinho and also the fact that his father played for Fenerbahce’s rivals, Galatasaray, the move is understood to be a non starter.

The Gers winger continues to be linked with a move away from the club and a summer exit cannot be ruled out.

San Francisco 49ers’ takeover may tempt Ianis Hagi to stay at Rangers

Hagi may be tempted to stay at Gers as the San Francisco 49ers’ impending takeover promises a transformative era for the club.

The 49ers, through their investment arm 49ers Enterprises, bring substantial financial muscle and a proven track record of revitalising sports teams, as seen with Leeds United.

This could mean a significant cash injection for Rangers, enabling a squad rebuild and infrastructure upgrades, which might appeal to Hagi’s ambitions as a key player.

At 26, the Romanian winger has recently regained form, thriving in a left-wing role, suggesting he could cement a starring role in a revitalised team.

Ianis Hagi has had a decent season for Rangers

The 49ers’ data-driven recruitment and global commercial reach could elevate the club’s competitiveness in Europe, offering the Romanian a bigger stage to showcase his talent.

With talks of a new contract on the table, the prospect of improved terms under wealthy new owners might sway him.

Rather than moving somewhere he has to prove his worth, staying could align with his desire for stability and success, especially if the takeover, expected by June, delivers on its promise of a brighter future at Ibrox.
