Chris Sutton slams ‘ridiculous’ official after what he did in Rangers win v Kilmarnock

Chris Sutton has slammed an official during Rangers’ win against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

The Gers came back to secure victory in Barry Ferguson’s first game in charge since replacing Philippe Clement who was finally sacked after a dismal season so far.

The Light Blues legend faces a long few months in the dugout trying to turn things around and underwent the worst possible start with his side down 2-0 after 14 minutes.

However, they ultimately fought back to win but an incident in the first half was the moment that caught the attention of the former footballer turned pundit.

Sutton slams official in Rangers clash

The Bears were pushing for an equaliser when Vaclav Cerny was put through in the 45th minute but the attack came to nothing and the Czech international was eventually ruled offside.

The former Celtic ace was furious with how long the move played out for despite the decision being blatantly obvious.

Speaking on Sky Sports (26 February, 20:45 pm), he said: “That’s a ridiculous flag. It was Cerny who went early.”

They are 13 points behind arch-rivals Celtic after the result against the East Ayrshire outfit started the former Bears ace’s stint in the dugout in the worst possible way.

It is unfair to criticise the new man after the poor start to the contest due to the mess that the Belgian had left when he departed, it is going to take a long time to fix the many issues at Ibrox.

The 49ers takeover is exciting and should ultimately benefit the Govan side in the long run but it is not a silver-bullet solution, it will not solve all of their problems, whether financial or on the pitch.

Ferguson will have to pick the squad back up to go again and hopefully can get them firing on all cylinders for the clash with Motherwell on 1 March before the Europa League ties with Fenerbache that could define their season.

If they can win that competition, it would ultimately make all the misery under the former Monaco man worth it and redeem what has been an abysmal campaign.
