Vaclav Cerny transfer: Rangers twist emerges amid 49ers takeover development
Vaclav Cerny may face a transfer twist at Rangers if and when the proposed 49ers Enterprises takeover goes through, Dan Plumley has said.
It emerged last week that a consortium, including Paraag Marathe of 49ers Enterprises and Leeds United, are in advanced talks over a takeover of Rangers, with some existing shareholders ready to sell.
With the deal said to be finalised before June, this could have a significant impact on the long-term future of the Scottish Premiership heavyweights, as evidenced by the decision to hold off the appointment of a permanent replacement for Philippe Clement.

Rangers investment to change Cerny dynamic
The takeover will also certainly affect Rangers’ plans for the summer transfer window, with any hope of making Cerny’s loan move from Wolfsburg permanent relying on the talks being finalised soon.
Cerny is valued at £6.75million for a permanent transfer and while the Gers would have afforded such a sum “historically”, their short-term position puts that in doubt, according to Plumley.
Explaining the Ibrox outfit’s chances of buying the Czechia international, with Mark Guidi already dismissing them, the football finance expert pointed out how a “real gap” with Celtic puts them at a major disadvantage.
However, he added that fresh cash injection at Rangers could change that dynamic, allowing them to afford Cerny.
“It shows how difficult the finances are in Scottish football more broadly and we have talked about this a lot, and we will keep talking about it because it’s the most pertinent issue”, Plumley exclusively told Ibrox News.
“You’ve got that real gap between qualifying for the Champions League or not, and then looking at the Europa League or how far you go in that competition.
“And then you’ve got the position with the clubs in Scotland itself in terms of in that Premier League, so it’s pretty clear at the minute everyone can see that Celtic are going to benefit more this year because of the Champions League run.

“That’s going to have ultimately a really huge impact on what Rangers do, so I always think with this one it’s more about the short-term position of where Rangers are in any given season, but also because of the way that league is, where Celtic are as well.
“We don’t always want to keep comparing, but financially you almost have to because it then filters down to decisions like this, and I think what you’re seeing here is more of a product of the short-term position because historically Rangers will be looking to be able to afford those kind of fees.

Cerny shining at Ibrox
“There’s the other side of it, of course, if you can get some more investment in, and we know they are looking for that as well, that changes the dynamic.
“So, I think it’s really kind of wrapped up in the short-term position at the minute, and ultimately that comes down to where they are on the pitch, which is just not where they wanted to be this season.”
Cerny has been a revelation for Rangers this season, bagging 14 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
There is no doubt that the Glasgow giants would like to extend his stay at Ibrox beyond this season.
