Sutton slams Propper ‘stinker’ after what he witnessed in Kilmarnock v Rangers
Chris Sutton has laid into Rangers defender Robin Propper for his performance in the 4-2 win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
The Gers travelled to Rugby Park on 26 February full of hope for the future after Philippe Clement was relieved of his managerial duties in Govan.
Barry Ferguson took charge of his first game but couldn’t guide his side to a change in fortunes after falling to a 2-1 defeat against Killie.
Part of the blame for this frustrating result can go down to Propper and the defensive line who Sutton has certainly taken issue with.

Sutton slams Propper after Clinton Nsiala substitution v Kilmarnock
It was far from the dream start to life in the dugout for the former Gers midfielder as Joe Wright’s opener was doubled by Brad Lyons with just 14 minutes gone.
This was no less than Derek McInnes’ side deserved after testing the away side with plenty of set-piece deliveries that the Light Blues struggled to deal with.
As a result of the opening half an hour’s performance, Ferguson opted to hook Nsiala, replacing the 21-year-old with Ridvan Yilmaz.
This left Sutton feeling sorry for the young Frenchman given his poor performance was matched by Propper who was equally as poor.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football (26 February, 8:32pm), he said: “With Nsiala coming off your thinking, it’s unfortunate with his centre half partner, Robin Propper staying on because he’s had a stinker as well.”

There is no doubt that the centre-back pairing at Rugby Park were extremely poor and played a key role as Killie took a two-goal lead so early on.
It allowed Ferguson to show that he wasn’t going to deal with poor performances and was willing to hook a youngster early on for the better of his side.
Despite this, Propper stayed on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes which calls into question why the Dutchman wasn’t also hooked.
First half stats v Kilmarnock | Robin Propper | Clinton Nsiala |
Touches | 36 | 12 |
Tackles won | 2 | 0 |
Duels won | 3 | 0 |
Dribbled past | 0 | 1 |
This could prove to be a useful quality as the season goes on as the Gers look to finish the season in better circumstances than they have shown in recent weeks.
There is no doubt that this duo will have to buck their ideas up, especially with Europa League clashes coming up in the next two weeks.
