BBC pundit spots what Barry Ferguson did on touchline after shock Rangers incident
Rangers interim head coach Barry Ferguson appeared to be baffled at one moment during the win against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
The Gers’ new head coach secured his first win in temporary charge on 26 February, just days after taking over from Philippe Clement.
Despite going 2-0 down, goals from Vaclav Cerny, Nedim Bajrami and a Cyriel Dessers brace were enough to secure all three points.
Ferguson will be pleased with the result in the end but there was still one moment which caught the eye and left him confused on the touchline.

Ferguson left baffled by Rangers defending v Kilmarnock
The Light Blues conceded two after just 14 minutes at Rugby Park after some truly poor defending from Clinton Nsiala and Robin Propper.
It was the latter who slipped in the penalty area to provide Joe Wright the perfect opportunity to open the scoring and hand the away side’s new boss the worst possible start.
This went against the script that the former Gers midfielder would have been hoping for ahead of his first game in charge and it appears that the moment did take him by surprise.
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland (8:13pm), Rory Loy spotted the 47-year-old looking frustrated in the dugout.
He said: “Barry Ferguson has got to be gutted with that. I’ve watched his reaction on the touchline, his arms are still folded and he looked fairly bemused.
“Unfortunately with the defender slipping it was just really slack.”
Rangers make up for defensive issues v Kilmarnock
It is safe to say that the first half performance was largely poor from the away side, falling behind to Killie who took their chances when they came.
The Gers learnt from their opposition after the interval as Dessers was able to convert twice in the opening 17 minutes of the second half.
Whatever Ferguson said in the dressing room worked as the stand-in manager was able to get the best out of his side and secure a much-needed three points.
Date | Competition | Rangers’ upcoming fixtures | |
(H) | 1 March | Scottish Premiership | Motherwell |
(A) | 6 March | Europa League | Fenerbache |
(H) | 13 March | Europa League | Fenerbache |
(A) | 16 March | Scottish Premiership | Celtic |
This momentum could serve his side well moving forward as Scottish Premiership and Europa League fixtures fill the schedule in the coming weeks.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the Light Blues deal with a busier schedule and whether or not they can find some consistency from now until the end of the campaign.
