Barry Ferguson did not leave Auchenhowie till after 2am on first Rangers day – ‘Crazy’
Barry Ferguson has been working hard behind the scenes after being as appointed as Rangers interim boss.
Rangers had very little choice other than to sack Philippe Clement after the dismal campaign that has ensued at Ibrox this time out.
The Light Blues have looked light years away from being a side capable of challenging Celtic for silverware, with a 16-point gap present in the league.
Once Clement’s departure was confirmed, questions emerged as to how the Gers would go about finding his successor, with Ferguson the man they chose until the end of the campaign and it appears he has dedicated himself to ensuring they have as strong an end to the season as possible.

Ferguson hard at work at Rangers already
Ferguson has a huge task on his hands to get Rangers heading back in the right direction but it appears as though he is willing to put in the hard miles to make that possible.
According to a report from the print edition of the Daily Record (26 February, pg 49), Ferguson was at the training ground until the very early hours of Tuesday morning ahead of their encounter with Kilmarnock.
Andy Newport said: “The ex-captain and his new team of iconic assistants – Allan McGregor, Neil McCann and Billy Dodds – didn’t leave themselves until after 2 am as they began piecing together a game plan for tonight’s showdown with another of their old teammates, Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes.
“Some would say he’s crazy to take the job on, especially given Ferguson himself admits he’d all but given up on a return to management after an ill-fated spell in charge of League One Alloa ended in resignation three years ago.”

With form in the league being hit-and-miss for Rangers this season, Ferguson will be fully aware of the need to get results to try and turn the daunting atmosphere on its head.
Kilmarnock will provide another test for the Light Blues, both physically and mentally and its one that everyone needs to fully prepared for.

49ers will have a big decision to make in the summer
If the 49ers are successful in their bid to become the Rangers’ new majority owner, the managerial situation will require full attention come the summer.
Ferguson is highly unlikely to remain in charge beyond the current campaign and given the failures at Ibrox over the last few years, an inability to get the next appointment right will only make that situation even worse.
Steven Gerrard has been mooted for a return, though there will undoubtedly be several other candidates in line for the job.
