Ashley Cole ‘to be appointed’ next Rangers boss as fresh manager claim emerges
Ashley Cole has been tipped to be the next Rangers manager, with Barry Ferguson in interim charge until the end of the current campaign.
Off the back of the sacking of Philippe Clement, those behind the scenes will already be drawing up a list of candidates to take on the role ahead of the new season.
Until then, Ferguson will be in charge and will be tasked with making sure that the Light Blues have as strong an end to the season as possible.
As it stands, it seems highly unlikely that Rangers will taste any type of success this time out, with the Europa League their only real remaining chance of a trophy given the gap to Celtic in the league.

Joe Cole moots Ashley Cole for the Rangers job
Regardless of what happens this season, Rangers will have a huge task on their hand to get the club headed back in the right direction after what has been a dismal few years.
Since the departure of Steven Gerrard, the Light Blues have been largely starved of success and it is a former teammate of his to be mooted as a potential candidate at the end of the campaign.

Speaking via The Dressing Room Podcast (25 February), Joe Cole said: “Where do they go, Rangers? I’m going to throw a name in there. He’s our guy, Ashley Cole. I’m going to throw him in.
“I know he’s got a great job working with the England Under-21s… Rangers had such a great spell with Gerrard, another ex-England legend, and I can see Cole going into that job.”
Of course, Cole has a fairly wealthy history of coaching having spent the last six years across various roles.
Cole appointment would be a risk for Rangers
Given the fact that Cole has not yet had a role as a first-team manager, it would definitely serve as a risk if the Light Blues were to appoint him.
However, any appointment is a risk in its own way, some pay off and others don’t. Unfortunately for Rangers, it has been more of the latter as of late with the failed times under both Clement and Michael Beale.
Whoever is to get the job will have a huge task on their hands next season onwards with the pressure mounting on the Gers to get back to a position where they can compete with Celtic for silverware consistently.
