Patrick Stewart to face ‘Serious scrutiny’ at Rangers already ahead of takeover
Patrick Stewart’s future is already in the spotlight at Rangers ahead of the pending takeover from the 49ers Enterprises.
Off the back of Philippe Clement’s sacking, changes are already being implemented at Ibrox and it is likely to see attention placed on Stewart.
While it is believed that Stewart is to stay on at Rangers, his position will still be questioned once the takeover goes through as the 49ers look to get the Light Blues headed in the right direction.
For far too long now, Rangers have looked incapable of competing with Celtic for silverware in Scotland and much of that is down to the happenings away from the playing side with Stewart among those to have played a part.

Stewart may now face Rangers scrutiny
While some of the concerns have already been dealt with at Rangers, there are still other aspects of the club that will need attention if they are to move away from what has been a dismal few years at Ibrox.
Recruitment has been one of the biggest downfalls for the Gers with signings such as Sam Lammers and Todd Cantwell going down as failures, with the business in terms of outgoings also shining a negative light on Ibrox.
It was deals such as those that Daily Record journalist Andy Newport alluded to that could hamper Stewart in the print edition of the news outlet (25 February, pg 56).
“Stewart wasn’t the man responsible either. But the new CEO might find his own position comes under some serious scrutiny now, just three months after taking up his post,” Newport said.
“With the money men from the San Francisco 49ers preparing an Ibrox takeover, it’s unclear what – if any – the former Manchester United’s exec’s role will be under the new regime.
“But if it’s decisive leadership they’re after, it’s hard to look at Stewart’s contributions so far and conclude he’s hit the mark.”

Rangers | 17 | 5 | 5 | 56 |
Whether it comes in the form of Stewart or not, the new owners will have several key decisions to make in terms of those behind the scenes at Ibrox with plenty of changes needed.

Rangers need to rebuild this summer
If the takeover of Rangers is to go through, the 49ers will have a huge task on their hands to get the Gers back on track.
Decisions will need to be made in every single area of the club and that includes the future of Stewart who, while he hasn’t been the reason behind the regression, has certainly played his part in what has been a dismal campaign on and off the pitch.
The coming weeks and months will certainly be interesting for everyone of a Light Blue persuasion.
