McManus mocks Rangers training footage as Ferguson takes charge

Rangers have been brutally mocked after training footage emerged from Auchenhowie.

Barry Ferguson was appointed until the end of the season to replace Philippe Clement who was finally handed his marching orders after a dismal campaign.

The Gers legend is looking to steady the ship with options still under consideration to take over in the summer.

However, he could win the job permanently if he impressed the Light Blues hierarchy with performances on the pitch.

Rangers mocked as training footage emerged

The Ibrox outfit have been subject to criticism on social media after footage emerged of Ferguson taking training.

Former Hibernian striker Tam McManus mocked the Govan club for the colour of their cones as players were pictured preparing for the clash with Kilmarnock (26 February).

Taking to his personal X account, he said: “Even the cones are staunch” in reference to the red, blue, and white colours of the Union flag, which is heavily associated with the Gers.

Ferguson needs to shut out outside noise

The new man in the Rangers dugout needs to shut out outside noise about his time at the Auchenhowie club.

He should focus on the action on the training field and the pitch as he tries to improve the Gers’ fortunes after Clement’s miserable spell in charge.

Top of the Scottish Premiership when Clement was sacked.

The Light Blues could still enjoy a modicum of success despite being miles behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and out of both domestic cups, after a controversial final defeat in the Premier Sports Cup and an abysmal loss to lowly Queen’s Park in the Scottish FA Cup.

The Ibrox outfit have looked like a different side in the Europa League as they automatically qualified for the round of 16, where they will face Turkish outfit Fenerbache.

If Ferguson can take the Gers on a deep run in the competition, he will increase his chances of securing the role on a permanent basis.

At the very worst, he is a placeholder that will be popular with the supporters regardless of how the Bears end the season, unlike Clement, who was constantly subject to the ire of fans.

Supporters can get behind the team again after the unpopular Belgian was finally sacked, with Patrick Stewart finally giving them what they have wanted for a long time.
