Steven Gerrard twist emerges as Rangers decision already made
Steven Gerrard may have already made his final decision over a return to Rangers after Philippe Clement was sacked.
The Belgian head coach and some of his coaching staff have finally been shown the door after Patrick Stewart pulled the plug at Ibrox.
While the 50-year-old head coach survived the Queen’s Park loss in the Scottish Cup, defeat to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership led to his sacking.
Gerrard has been tipped to return to Ibrox in some sort of capacity by Sam Matterface on talkSPORT, and an update has emerged regarding his stance.

Rangers return not on cards for Gerrard
Gerrard may not be interested in returning to the Light Blues, according to The Scottish Sun.
The news outlet reports (23 February) that the Liverpool icon could potentially believe the time isn’t right to make his way back to the Glaswegian outfit.
Competition (2024/25) | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses |

A move to Ibrox looks to have been ruled out as things stand, but it remains to be seen whether the situation changes in the coming months.
Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership at Rangers before leaving for Aston Villa, where he struggled to make a mark.
Ibrox anxiously awaits new manager after Clement sacking
Ibrox is holding its breath after Clement’s departure to see who the hierarchy decides is the right person to take them forward.
The Gers have failed to compete with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership since Gerrard’s departure, and his return could arguably see them return to the summit.
If not the former English midfielder, the boardroom needs to decide who is best suited to develop the squad currently at the Light Blues.
It will evidently require someone with experience and innate managerial talent to bring the best out of a bunch of sunken players at Ibrox.
Clement’s exit will arguably affect the squad, as they weren’t good enough to help the former Monaco boss keep his job.
A strong character is now needed at the Glaswegian outfit to lead them until the end of the season as they look to make it far in the Europa League.
While the Belgian manager had a poor domestic record this season, he finished eighth in the Europa League and qualified for the knockout rounds.
The Bears will face Fenerbahce in the round of 16 in March and must have someone in charge capable of handling Jose Mourinho’s antics on the sidelines.
