Rangers fans scenes ‘pathetic’ v St Mirren after what happened at Ibrox
John McGarry was in disbelief at the scenes that ensued at Ibrox as Rangers fell to another league defeat.
St Mirren secured all three points against Rangers in a 2-0 win that was certainly on the cards given the inept performance of the Light Blues throughout the game.
Rangers were made to pay for failing to take advantage of their domination, with Mikael Mandron opening the scoring for the visitors after 55 minutes.
The atmosphere at Ibrox has been dull for several months now and it was no different towards the latter stages of Saturday’s clash.
Fans were left frustrated with their side’s performance yet again and it should come as no surprise to see that patience is running thin among the Rangers faithful.

Ibrox scenes cause disbelief after Rangers loss
Philippe Clement will be under even more pressure as a result of the defeat, with the home support making their voices heard in the latter stages of the game.
John McGarry, via the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (23 February, pg86), described the performance as “atrocious” while alluding to the scenes at Ibrox.
Rangers v St Mirren stats (FotMob) | Goals | xG | Big chances | Possession |
Rangers | 0 | 0.76 | 0 | 65% |
St. Mirren | 2 | 1.46 | 5 | 35% |
He said: “Nothing summed up the pathetic efforts of [Clement’s] side more like the reaction among the home fans when the board went up informing them that there would be nine added minutes at the end of the game.
“Rather than roars of encouragement filling the arena, the sound was that of booing. The home supporters had seen enough and didn’t want to suffer a minute longer.”
Given the fact that Celtic also suffered defeat, Rangers had a real chance to reduce the gap from the league leaders but yet another inept display prevented that from happening.
Rangers supporters will be keen for this season to be over and done with and rightfully so.

Rangers set for huge summer turnaround
This summer has the potential to be the biggest in a while for the Light Blues, especially if the 49ers takeover goes through at Ibrox.
The sacking of Clement has to be the priority, but there are many other changes that will need to be implemented if Rangers are to progress.
For far too long now, the Gers have looked light years away from being able to compete with Celtic and until the necessary decisions are made, that is unlikely to change.
With the level of support and loyalty among the Rangers fanbase, they deserve a team that they can be proud of and the performances from this season have provided the polar opposite and this regression has to be put to an end.
