Rangers v St Mirren: Ian McCall reacts after ‘Remarkable’ Ibrox incident
Rangers had another day to forget in the Scottish Premiership against St Mirren on Saturday.
Philippe Clement’s men have blundered from one mishap to another this season, most recently the abysmal Scottish Cup surrender to Queen’s Park.
And Rangers were beaten 2-0 by St Mirren at Ibrox (22 January) in another desperately disappointing outing from Clement’s men.
It meant Rangers missed out on capitalising on Celtic’s surprise defeat at Hibernian earlier in the afternoon, much to the annoyance of the home fans.

Rangers didn’t luck out twice v St Mirren
The Gers had already had the football Gods on their side when Hamza Igamane had a red card overturned by referee Kevin Clancy on the stroke of half-time.
It looked as though more fortune was on their side when Clancy initially awarded a free-kick against Mikael Mandron for a foul on Clinton Nsiala before firing past Jack Butland.
However, Clancy was asked to go back to the pitch-side monitor and once again decided he got the decision wrong and Mandron’s goal was ultimately awarded.
Reacting immediately to the goal, BBC Sportsound commentator Kheredine Idessane said: “Remarkable scenes here as they go across to celebrate the goal in front of their delirious band of travelling supporters. Quite extraordinary scenes here.”
Pundit and co-commentator Ian McCall replied: “At first when you watch it in real time, it didn’t look like a foul to me, you can always tell from players reaction, rangers players didn’t react like it was a foul.”

Rangers can’t go on like this
The truth is that Rangers were once again just hugely underwhelming against St Mirren and it is even more frustrating given they had the perfect opportunity to chip away some ground on Celtic.
Okay, even if they had won, the chances of them chasing down the Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership are at best slip but the opportunity to at least make the gap more respectful was there.
Team | Matches | Points |
1. Celtic | 27 | 69 |
2. Rangers | 27 | 56 |
3. Aberdeen | 27 | 41 |
4. Dundee United | 27 | 40 |
5. Hibs | 27 | 37 |
Once again, though, it was a day to forget for Philippe Clement and his side and really how much longer can this go on before Patrick Stewart decides to sack the Belgian?
With talk gathering at a pace about a takeover from Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises you have to think that Clement is surely a dead man walking at Ibrox.
Even if by some miracle he manages to survive this latest debacle, there is absolutely no way new owners are going to allow some incompetence to continue.
The real question has to be, why was Clement not sacked by Ranger already before this?
