Philippe Clement sack update emerges after ‘Woeful’ Rangers development

Ian McCall has issued his verdict on Philippe Clement being sacked as Rangers lose 2-0 at home to St Mirren.

The Belgian saw the pressure ease on him after last week’s 3-1 win at Hearts, but Saturday’s result has once again put him in the firing line.

Gers started the game poorly but did not concede before half time and instead of coming out stronger in the second period, they capitulated and conceded two goals.

Rangers must part ways with Philippe Clement

In his post-match press conference, the Belgian sounded downbeat and some would argue that he had accepted his fate.

Things continue to be getting worse at the helm for him and the board will be running out of excuses to keep him at the club.

That certainly is the view of Ian McCall who believes that the Gers players have already given up.

He told BBC Sportsound at 5:26pm: “If I was Philippe Clement, I’d be worried because some of the players looked like they’d chucked it. Woeful. Truly woeful.”

After Clement’s presser, he said: “Philippe Clement sounds beaten. Today feels to me like a full stop.”

San Francisco 49ers are likely to have their say in the new managerial appointment

While the San Francisco 49ers takeover has not been completed, it is currently at an advanced stage.

Changing of managers is a big decision and parting ways is a big financial decision so they’ve certainly got to have a say in this.

Patrick Stewart already is not well-liked by the fans and if he does sack Clement, he can certainly earn some goodwill.

Gers must now begin their search for a new manager due to Clement’s inability to deliver consistent results, exemplified by disastrous losses to Queens Park and now St Mirren at Ibrox.

These defeats, coupled with the lack of progress in the Scottish Premiership, where the team trail Celtic significantly, have eroded any goodwill Clement might have earned from European performances.

Fans and pundits alike argue that his tenure has run its course, with no substantial credit in the bank to justify further patience.

While Stewart acknowledges financial flexibility to make a change, the focus has been on not disrupting Europa League efforts.

However, with mounting pressure and a clear decline in domestic form, retaining Clement risks further stagnation.

A new manager is essential to reinvigorate the squad, restore fan confidence and realign the club with their historic expectations of success.
