Philippe Clement ‘knows he is done’ with Rangers sack now ready

Philippe Clement seemingly knows he’s done at Rangers after losing 2-0 to St Mirren.

Ibrox witnessed defeat to Stephen Robinson’s team in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (22 February) after second-half goals from Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya.

Patrick Stewart has a big decision to make regarding Clement, as the Light Blues’ inconsistency was once again on display against the Saints.

The Belgian manager looked dejected on the touchline during the game, and the reality of the situation might have dawned on him.

Rangers should not continue with Clement after St Mirren loss

Clement has potentially realised his time at the Glaswegian outfit is coming to an end, David Edgar says.

The founder of Heart & Hand Podcast feels the Belgian manager expects to be dismissed after how he spoke in the post-match press conference.

Edgar believes there’s no point extending the 50-year-old head coach’s tenure at the Light Blues and has called for his sacking.

Heart & Hand Podcast wrote on X (22 February): “Just my impression based on the press conference, but Clement knows he’s done. There was a real ‘Beale after Aberdeen game’ feel to him. There’s absolutely no point extending this – we know he’s going, he knows he’s going. Just get it done.”

Clement sacking a matter of time at Ibrox

Clement’s sacking at Ibrox feels inevitable and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Rangers hierarchy make a decision in the coming hours.

The Belgian manager has been lucky to survive so far, as the supporters have wanted him gone for some time now.

After a poor start to the season, the Light Blues’ supporters called for a change in the dugout but the uncertainty at the boardroom level seemed to save him.

With Stewart’s arrival, the Bears were expected to make prudent decisions, but the new chief executive officer has been reluctant to make the big calls recently.

The Ibrox faithful held protests against Clement and the Glaswegian outfit’s management earlier this season, but the hierarchy have given him time.

After losing to St Mirren, the 50-year-old head coach can’t be given any more opportunities.

The Gers are still alive in the Europa League and must have someone else lead them in the competition as they face Fenerbahce in the round of 16.

It should be evident to the Belgian manager that the fans don’t want him, and it would be best for him to part ways soon.
