Chris Sutton calls for Philippe Clement sack after what he saw at Rangers
Chris Sutton has called for Philippe Clement to be sacked after Rangers lost to St Mirren.
Stephen Robinson’s team visited Ibrox on Saturday (22 February) and won the game with two goals in the second half.
The Gers’ defence didn’t have an answer for Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya’s strikes as they got the better of Jack Butland.
The Ibrox faithful already wanted Clement out a few weeks back, and now Sutton has relayed those calls based on what he has seen.

Rangers told to sack Philippe Clement after St Mirren loss
Sutton has called for a change in the Light Blues’ dugout after their loss to the Saints.
The former Celtic man believes it’s time for a change at the Bears after their 2-0 defeat at home to St Mirren.
Sutton feels the 50-year-old head coach can’t continue at the Glaswegian outfit as he failed to beat the Paisley side and close the gap on Celtic after their loss to Hibernian.
The Englishman wrote on X (22 February): “Even when the door is left ajar… dear me time for change”
Championship table (2024/25) | Points |

2. Rangers | 56 |
Clement should be sacked immediately at Ibrox
If the exit from the Scottish Cup to Queen’s Park wasn’t enough for the Rangers board to make a decision regarding Clement, they must make their minds up now.
Patrick Stewart can’t expect the Ibrox faithful to sit quietly as they continue to become irrelevant under the Belgian manager.
The fans have already demonstrated their discontent with the management this season by protesting at the stadium and now is the right time to pull the plug on the former Monaco boss’ tenure at the Glaswegian outfit.
While there was a period in the season where Clement seemed to be making progress and the Light Blues put in encouraging performances, the inconsistency in displays can’t continue.
The Belgian manager must go, and the Gers’ hierarchy must make an immediate call to dismiss him within hours.
Sacking the 50-year-old head coach at a time when there are talks of a takeover might be challenging, but even the prospective buyers will evidently want to get rid of him.
There can be no way back for Clement after the St Mirren defeat at home and there needs to be a different manager in charge at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock on Wednesday (26 February).
