Philippe Clement sack: Claim emerges as 49ers to seal Rangers takeover

Philippe Clement’s future is expected to be a hot topic of discussion if and when the San Francisco 49ers complete the takeover of Rangers.

It’s understood that things are progressing with regard to the NFL giants owning a majority stake in the Ibrox outfit.

Clement has been in sack danger for a number of months, but it seems likely that the board will keep him until the end of the season.

San Francisco 49ers to sack Philippe Clement – Derek Ferguson

Derek Ferguson has chimed in on the developments surrounding the takeover of the club and admits it’s heart-warming that talks have been ongoing for a while.

He believes that the takeover is going to happen and that there will be new owners in charge of the club.

However, he does not see Clement being the manager under the Americans and sees him leaving Ibrox come the end of the season.

Speaking on Open Goal, he said at 1:13:38: “Talks have been ongoing for a number of months which is quite heart-warming. There is a lot in this and it looks like it’s going to happen. “

When asked if he thinks Clement would still be at the club and if the owners will give him a lot of money, he responded: “No. I think he’ll take us until the end of the season. That’s clear to see”.

Rangers cannot reach the next level with Philippe Clement in charge

The Belgian has been in charge for 16 months and there have been no tangible signs of progress under his stewardship.

The football has been stale, the players have not improved and there’s been an overall lack of cohesion in all aspects of play.

Fans, too, have grown sick of Clement’s football and the excuses he keeps making after results don’t go in their favour.

If the 49ers are to win over the support of the Ibrox faithful from the get go, this would certainly be a move that is popular with them.

There are a number of managers willing to come to Gers who will do a better job than Clement and give the club a chance of challenging for the league and potentially even winning it next season.

Hopefully, they have certain managers in mind who are ready to join in the summer and they will also get a pre season which would be extremely beneficial.
