Rangers v St Mirren predicted XI: Clement drops exit-bound ace, 2 changes
Rangers will be hoping to continue on the winning track after beating Hearts when they host St Mirren on Saturday.
Philippe Clement was a man under pressure going into the game at Tynecastle, but a 3-1 victory silenced the critics for the time being.
While he’s still far from secure in his position at Ibrox, he could bolster his credentials by beating St Mirren on Saturday.
Team | Matches | Points |
1. Celtic | 26 | 69 |
2. Rangers | 26 | 56 |
3. Aberdeen | 26 | 38 |
4. Dundee United | 26 | 37 |
5. Hibs | 26 | 34 |
Philippe Clement could make two changes to the side that beat Hearts
Clinton Nsiala started in defence for Gers against Hearts and while he has rarely put in a foot wrong, he has been playing a lot recently.
Having not played any minutes in the opening few months, the 21-year-old has just been thrust into the side and is expected to be a first-team regular.
It makes sense to give him a game off for this one and get Robin Propper into the side who also needs more minutes to adapt.
He would partner John Souttar at the back who seems to have recovered from his injury and is ready for a consistent run in.
The other change would see Clement dropping Tom Lawrence, a player who has been linked with an exit with his contract at Ibrox running out.
Cyriel Dessers, who’s been impressive coming off the bench in recent weeks, merits a start and is likely to be given the nod against a side that’s expected to sit back and defend for their lives.

Rangers have to pick up the three points against Hearts
Given all the noise surrounding the takeover, it is easy for the players to get distracted, but they’ve got to remain focused on the job at hand.
It’s still a huge gap between them and leaders Celtic, but they cannot let that stop them from putting their best foot forward.
The hosts need to start this one strongly because the longer it gets, the more frustrated the fans will get as they’re already disappointed with how the season has panned out.
