Rangers news: Source issues groundbreaking 49ers takeover update
Rangers are subject to takeover interest from the San Francisco 49ers who are themselves looking to sell a 10 per cent stake.
Paraag Marathe, President of 49ers Enterprises and Executive Vice President of Football Operations, is the one backing the deal.
He’s also the chairman of Leeds United – another club owned by the 49ers Enterprises.
San Francisco 49ers want a controlling stake in Rangers
Gers’ ownership is fragmented with Dave King, Douglas Park and George Taylor owning over a 10 per cent stake in the club.
However, the 49ers, should they look to invest, would not only expect seats on the board but have the primary say in club affairs.
Sportico reported on 20 February that the Americans are looking for a controlling stake in the Ibrox outfit, according to a person familiar with the matter.
It still hasn’t been mentioned how much per cent of the club they’re keen on acquiring and whether or not the current shareholders are willing to part ways with their stake.

Paraag Marathe appears to have mega plans post the takeover
This does not seem to be just another investment but it seems like Marathe has big plans once he acquires the club.
The York Family own the 49ers Enterprises and are billionaires so they’d have no problems in funding the takeover.
They are also looking to raise £715million by selling a 10 per cent stake in the NFL outfit which would free up funds to increase their investment in football, having already owned Leeds United.
These certainly are exciting times for the Ibrox faithful as they have been crying out for solid leadership from the top.
Hopefully, if the takeover goes through, the 49ers can make the right behind-the-scenes appointments and once again raise the standards at the club as currently the bar seems to have been set extremely low.
