Vaclav Cerny transfer: Rangers ‘cannot afford’ deal after Ibrox developments
Rangers may be unable to afford Vaclav Cerny on a permanent transfer due to what has happened at Ibrox recently.
The 27-year-old signed for the Gers on loan from Wolfsburg last summer and the Bundesliga outfit are looking for £6.75million to sell him.
Cerny has been a revelation at Ibrox this season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.
The Czech international got on the scoresheet once again as the Light Blues beat Hearts in the Scottish Premiership at Tynecastle Stadium on Sunday (16 February).
Vaclav Cerny permanent Rangers transfer unlikely
Mark Guidi believes the Bears may not have the finances to sign Cerny from Wolfsburg in the summer.
The Scottish journalist doesn’t expect the Glaswegian outfit to have the necessary funds needed to complete a move for the forward.
Guidi feels the Czech attacker has been a decent addition to the Gers’ squad and one of the only reliable players for them in the current campaign.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (17 February), the journalist said: “The other thing about Cerny is he worries defenders. When he’s on the ball, sometimes they’re doubling up on him because he has got the ability and is one guy for Rangers middle to front you can hang your hat on. He’s been a really good signing. Got him on loan. I don’t think the finances will be there to make it permanent.”

Vaclav Cerny exit a big blow at Ibrox
If the Bears can’t bring Cerny to Ibrox next summer, it will be a big blow for them.
The Light Blues will have to replace the 28-year-old’s goal contributions, which isn’t going to be an easy task.
Last season, the Glaswegian outfit faced a similar dilemma with Abdallah Sima who left the Scottish Premiership to play Champions League football.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see top teams vying for Cerny’s signature in the coming months, considering his recent performances.
The Gers will have a hard time convincing the Czech international to stay at Ibrox, not just due to financial reasons but also because of the apparent lack of ambition at the Glaswegian outfit.
Philippe Clement’s team have nothing left to play for domestically after being humiliated by Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.
The Gers are still alive in the Europa League, but it’s hard to envision them going all the way to lift the title at the end of the season.
Significant changes will evidently be needed at the Light Blues if they want to pursue a permanent transfer for Cerny soon.
