Rangers injury news: Danilo update emerges ahead of St Mirren clash

Rangers striker Danilo will get back to conditioning quicker after being out with an upper-body injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he will have to undergo bounce matches to return to full fitness.

The 25-year-old has been out with a shoulder injury since mid-January and is edging closer to a first-team return.

Danilo’s chances of starting for Rangers against St Mirren revealed

It’s understood that even if he is fit for the St Mirren clash on 22 February, the Brazilian is not expected to start the game.

As he has been out for a month, the chance of re-injury is higher as he has not been used to the intensity of first-team football.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “Considering he will have missed roughly a month or so, his ramp should take a few matches.

The positive news is that this was an upper body, shoulder injury, so he could at least get back to conditioning quicker in the gym compared to a lower-body injury.

The process will be tolerating first team training and then bounce minutes.

Even if fit, he’s highly unlikely to start the next game.

Danilo needs to start firing goals once he’s back to full fitness

Whenever he’s played, the 25-year-old has proven to be a goal threat which is why Philippe Clement will be looking forward to his return.

He has made six league starts this season and another eight appearances off the bench as he has battled fitness issues.

However, whenever he’s been available, he has shown just how prolific he can be in the final third.

Danilo has bagged five league goals and provided three assists in the 2024/25 SPFL campaign.

His presence takes the goal-scoring burden off Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers and gives the manager a chance to rotate his side.

Hopefully, he does not suffer any further setbacks and can stay injury-free for the final three months of the season.
