Rangers boardroom positive emerges despite recent drama at Ibrox

Rangers fans have had enough of the board at Ibrox after the season from hell, but recent positives may have emerged, Dan Plumley says.

From starting the season at Hampden Park and failing to qualify for the Champions League to somehow losing to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup and sitting 13 points behind Celtic.

With limited funds available in the winter transfer window too, Rafael Fernandes signing on loan was the only piece of business signed off in Govan.

Rangers boardroom positive finally emerges at Ibrox

It was recently revealed that Patrick Stewart rejected late bids for two Rangers stars to leave Ibrox before the February 3 transfer deadline.

Plumley, a football finance expert, admits that those decisions show that there is no real panic behind the scenes financially, especially as bad as some people suggest.

“That’s the other side of things,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“We’ve spoken about finances that we saw in the most recent accounts, but they are always a year out of date from the outside looking in, we’ve spoken about the challenge they have got on the pitch and how that may impact them.

It seems like that’s not leading to panic stations at the club, though and that’s where you go back to that they can swallow that slightly in terms of financial performance to do some of these things like reject bids.

If you are desperate, a couple of those players likely leave in a different world, so it does show that there is no real panic behind the scenes and that is good to know in the background that the board are working in that way.

Of course, they are not where they want to be on the pitch this season, but it’s perhaps not as bad as some people are painting out.”

Philippe Clement drama continues at Rangers

Despite slight positives in the transfer window and the much-needed 3-1 win against Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday, Clement is still in the firing line.

Stewart may grasp onto certain positives, but the Belgian is still said to be clinging onto his job at Ibrox.
