Rangers ‘big drama’ emerges on social media after win v Hearts
Hearts fans have been feeling hard done by after the drama against Rangers with Clinton Nsiala.
Philippe Clement’s team travelled to Tynecastle Stadium beaten up but still left 3-1 winners after a couple of own goals from Jamie McCart on Sunday.
Michael Steinwender had equalised for the hosts just after half-time, but Neil Critchley’s team were unable to make the most of it as Vaclav Cerny restored the Gers’ lead at the hour mark.
It was one incident involving Nsiala and James Wilson that fans are still somehow talking about.
Rangers penalty drama drags out v Hearts
Chris Jack believes John Beaton made the right call not to award a penalty as Nsiala clashed with Wilson during the Light Blues’ 3-1 win.
The Rangers Review journalist feels the Jambos didn’t deserve a penalty after the defender’s alleged push on the 17-year-old forward inside the box.
Speaking on The Rangers Review, the journalist said: “I don’t think there was enough in it. I understand why Hearts fans are upset and why they would appeal for it. But when you see it back there’s not enough in that to award a penalty.
“I think the referee got that one right. And obviously, it has been looked at and checked, and nothing was decided. So, I don’t think it’s as big a drama as people perhaps were making out on social media.”
Clinton Nsiala lucky to escape punishment v Hearts
Nsiala was lucky as Rangers beat Hearts, and apart from the penalty shout, the young defender was also involved in an embarrassing moment when he rolled on the floor after an incident with Adam Forrester.
The 21-year-old has broken into the Bears’ first team after several injury issues in the backline and seems to have made a place for himself in Clement’s plans.
Nsiala has been a revelation at Ibrox this season, but the French national didn’t have the best of games against Hearts.
John Souttar has returned from his fitness issues, and it looks like Robin Propper will be the one benched going forward.
While Clement’s future at Ibrox is up in the air, the Belgian manager has managed to hand some valuable minutes to youngsters in recent months.
The former Monaco boss’ lasting legacy might not be favourable, but one positive to come out of his tenure has been the emergence of prospects at the Glaswegian outfit.
Nsiala has shown that he’s more than capable of being the starting centre-back at the Gers despite his minor slip-up at Tynecastle Stadium.
The 21-year-old seems to be a nailed-on starter now for the Gers, and he will surely start once again as Ibrox hosts St Mirren on 22 February.
