Philippe Clement sack: Rangers ‘to pay eye-watering compensation’ at Ibrox
Rangers will have to pay an “eye-watering” sum to sack Philippe Clement after the 1-0 defeat to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.
Clement is on the brink of the sack at Ibrox after his team were shockingly knocked out of the domestic competition at home on Sunday (9 February).
As a result, the Gers now have nothing left to play for except the Europa League, with Celtic leading the Scottish Premiership by 13 points.
The Belgian manager still finds himself in the Light Blues’ dugout, and the compensation to sack him has now been revealed.
Rangers to pay seven figures for Philippe Clement sack
Clement’s departure would cost the Bears £1.2million, according to The Scottish Sun.
The news outlet reports (10 February) that the Glaswegian outfit must stump up a seven-figure pay-off to get rid of the former Monaco head coach.
It has been reported that’s one of the main reasons the 50-year-old manager is still in a job.
Rangers agreed a new contract with Clement last summer, potentially keeping him at Ibrox until 2028.

Philippe Clement should be sacked after Queen’s Park loss
Clement is arguably lucky to still be in a job, and the Gers should have parted ways with him right after the defeat.
While there have been many lows at the Light Blues this season, nothing may top the embarrassment they faced against the Scottish Championship outfit.
After replacing Michael Beale, the Belgian manager had an encouraging start to his tenure at the Bears, but many felt he should have done better during his first season.
The Ibrox faithful were confident going into the current campaign, but the 50-year-old head coach had a poor start, leading to calls for his sacking.
Patrick Stewart must fire Clement immediately, and failure to do so will lead to questions about the new chief executive officer’s position at the Glaswegian outfit.
With the domestic season all but done in terms of silverware for the Gers, now seems to be the right time to send the head coach packing.
A fresh face in the dugout will undoubtedly calm the supporters’ nerves and give the board some breathing room.
The former Monaco boss had curried some favour among some people after qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League, but his situation now can’t be ignored.
