Rangers justice as ‘Atrocious’ footage emerges v Queen’s Park at Ibrox
Tam McManus was left fuming at footage that emerged from Rangers’ Scottish Cup defeat to Queen’s Park on Sunday.
With Rangers enduring a wretched season, the Scottish Cup was one of their only real chances of winning silverware after suffering defeat in the Scottish League Cup to Celtic, while finding themselves 13 points behind The Bhoys in the league.
However, the Light Blues suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to second-tier Queen’s Park, realistically all but ending their hopes of a trophy come the end of the campaign.
The result leaves Philippe Clement hanging by a thread at Ibrox, with his position now surely untenable given the number of failures he has now overseen.
Tam McManus fuming at Rangers v Queen’s Park decision
Despite their poor performance, Rangers were handed a last-minute lifeline in the tie, with Cyriel Dessers adjudged to have been fouled in the box, leaving the visitors stunned.
The Gers were awarded a penalty, which James Tavernier would go on to miss, but the initial award of the spot-kick left McManus fuming.
Taking to X at the end of the game (9 February), McManus said: “Justice was done as that was never a penalty in a million years. Atrocious decision again.”
Queen’s Park would go on to see out the remainder of the game, and certainly deserved their spot in the next round of the competition.
Philippe Clement, your time is up at Ibrox
With any chance of success now looking dauntingly minimal, Clement simply has to be told to pack his bags and head for the exit.
Rangers are going nowhere, at least nowhere positive, under his stewardship and the prospect of silverware looks like nothing but a distant dream.
Just the Europa League remains for the Light Blues, and given the level of opposition in the competition, it feels rather unlikely that Rangers will find any success through that route.
Each week the Gers are regressing, and it’s quite the miracle that the Belgian is still in post at Ibrox.
The Belgian has been on the verge for several weeks and even months, and if they don’t act now, they will lose any credibility over future decisions made.
