Philippe Clement in major crisis as Rangers ‘rumours’ emerge from Ibrox
Rangers put in one of their worst performances of the season in their 1-0 defeat to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
The Gers have now been knocked out of each cup competition they were likely to win this term.
Granted, they may still be involved in the Europa League but it’s hard to see how they’d come away with that trophy, especially after their disgraceful display against Callum Davidson’s men on 9 February.
There have been times when it’s felt like Philippe Clement has turned a corner with his Rangers team but instead, he always ends up taking one step forward and two steps back.
It’s no surprise to see Daily Record journalist Andy Newport calling this a “crisis point” for Rangers.
Philippe Clement has no ground to stand on at Rangers
Clement’s days at Ibrox now feel more than numbered after the Belgian allowed his team to bow out of the last realistic competition they could bring home.
Fans have been calling for the head of the Belgian for some time now and it feels like this could well be the final nail in the coffin for some fans.
Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (9 February), Newport shared a couple of rumours he’d heard from Ibrox after the tie.
“I’ve seen some bad days here, especially lately but that’s up there with one of the worst, this is now a crisis point for the club,” Newport said.
“They’ve got a manager who’s lost all respect and trust and faith in the fans and I’m not sure yet but there were some suggestions that there were some small protests outside the front door.
“Well how big that got or what was involved I’m not sure but I’ve just heard a few rumours.
“This is now a major crisis for Philippe Clement.”

Patrick Stewart has to relieve Philippe Clement of his duties
In most fans’ eyes, there’s no coming back from the shocking defeat against Queen’s Park on Sunday.
The Belgian may have bought himself some faith back from finishing eighth in the Europa League but that’s all gone to waste now that his team have dropped out of the cup.
While the Scottish Cup likely wasn’t the most important trophy to Rangers fans at the start of the season, after they were narrowly defeated in the Scottish League Cup final by Celtic in December, it was the last thing they had going for them.
Most fans were likely holding onto the hope that at least one trophy could be added to their cabinet but now that’s off the table, it’s hard to see why Patrick Stewart would want to keep the Belgian around.
There’s just under half the season left and unless a new face is brought in to add a breath of fresh air to the Ibrox camp, it’s hard to see how anything is going to come from their campaign.
