Michael Stewart savages Jefte as Rangers footage emerges v Queen’s Park

Michael Stewart has savaged Jefte for what he did as Rangers lost 1-0 to Queen’s Park on Sunday.

Rangers were embarrassed by Callum Davidson’s team at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup and were sent packing from the competition.

Sebastian Drozd scored the only goal in the second half, which was enough to knock out the Light Blues.

Cyriel Dessers won the Bears a penalty in the final seconds of the match, but James Tavernier saw his tame effort saved to see Ibrox explode with rage.

Stewart wasn’t pleased with Jefte’s defending as the Gers conceded against the Scottish Championship outfit midway through the second half.

The Scotsman blasted the Brazilian defender for being beaten far too easily by Drozd before he found the back of the net.

Jefte started for the Light Blues in what was a relatively strong team but was weak when his team needed him the most.

Speaking live on Premier Sports (9 February, 16:57), Stewart said: “This is not good defending from Jefte though.

“That is absolutely dire stuff, get out, block him, he sells himself.”

Rangers season now over at Ibrox

Having been knocked out of the Scottish Cup, the domestic season is all but done for Rangers by the looks of things.

The Gers are 13 points behind table-toppers Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and it’s unrealistic to believe they will be able to mount a challenge.

While the Light Blues are in the knockout stages of the Europa League, Philippe Clement’s situation at Ibrox remains tenuous as fans call for his sacking.

The Belgian manager had managed to retain some faith among the Bears’ hierarchy after a few impressive performances in recent weeks.

All eyes will now be on Patrick Stewart as he is tasked with making his first big decision at the Glaswegian outfit since being appointed as CEO.

The Gers face Hearts in the Scottish Premiership at Tynecastle on Sunday (16 February) but it’s not certain if Clement will be in charge.

Winning the Europa League is the only way the former Monaco head coach will be able to convince supporters that he’s the right man for the job.

The Belgian manager’s situation will be worth monitoring in the coming hours as tensions rise among the Ibrox faithful.
