Jeff Stelling does ‘double take’ after what he saw about Rangers live on air

Jeff Stelling did a double take after Rangers lost to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.

The Gers were humiliated by the Scottish Championship outfit on Sunday (9 February), as Sebastian Drozd scored the game’s only goal.

Philippe Clement’s team lost 1-0 at Ibrox and were knocked out of their final domestic cup competition of the season in the process.

Celtic are first in the Scottish Premiership, and it looks highly unlikely that the Light Blues will be able to compete now, sitting 13 points behind.

Jeff Stelling baffled by Rangers loss to Queen’s Park

Stelling was baffled as the Glaswegian giants lost to Queen’s Park at home.

The talkSPORT broadcaster couldn’t believe it when he saw the scoreline at Ibrox as Callum Davidson’s team progressed to the next round of the Scottish Cup.

Stelling had expected the Gers to score several goals and breeze past second-division opposition, but that wasn’t the case for Clement.

Speaking on talkSPORT (10 February, 6:05), the 69-year-old said: “Nobody could have known that would happen. I had to look twice when I saw the score.

“It’s one of those games where you naturally think it’s going to be three, four, five, six, whatever.”

Queen’s Park loss at Ibrox shocking

Rangers losing to Queen’s Park was shocking for many as they were seen as one of the favourites to go all the way in the competition.

Clement’s sacking at Ibrox seems inevitable at this point, considering how badly they have performed throughout the season, with this the end game.

While the Belgian manager had found some semblance in recent weeks, his team has been underwhelming for the majority of the campaign.

The Gers fans had recently protested at Ibrox to express their discontent with the management.

With nothing to play for domestically, now seems like the right time for the Light Blues to change their manager and start anew.

While they still have the Europa League to play for, the best bet now would seemingly be to have someone else take charge of the team until the end of the season.

The fans will evidently be on the former Monaco boss’ back, which will only make things more difficult going forward.

Hearts are up next for the Bears on 16 February, and the board have enough time to contemplate what direction they need to take.
