Ridvan Yilmaz transfer: Rangers twist emerges after Turkey development

Ridvan Yilmaz is involved in a fresh Rangers transfer twist amid links of a move back to Turkey.

The left-back is attracting interest from Galatasaray as they look to bolster their squad as they can still sign players until 11 February [Arda Ozkurt].

Similarly, Besiktas have also had the defender on their radar and have been considering re-signing him mid-season [NTV Spor].

A claim has now been made whether the 23-year-old will return to the Super Lig before the Turkish transfer deadline.

Ridvan Yilmaz to stay at Rangers this season

Yilmaz will stay at the Light Blues this season as a move right now doesn’t seem possible, Haldun Domac says.

The A Spor journalist revealed on the news outlet’s official X account (8 February) that the full-back will not move to Turkey in the coming days.

As the Bears can’t replace the 23-year-old until the summer, it’s unlikely they will let him go to Galatasaray or Besiktas.

The defender’s situation will be one to keep an eye on at the end of the season, as it will be interesting to see whether Rangers cash in on him.

Ridvan Yilmaz essential at Ibrox

While Yilmaz might not be the first name on the teamsheet at Ibrox, he has shown his importance in recent matches.

Philippe Clement relied on the Turkish national at right-back in the absence of James Tavernier and also played him further forward due to certain players being unavailable in the Europa League.

Jefte has been the go-to on the left-hand side of the defence for the Belgian manager, but he has been linked with a move to Chelsea [Chris Jack].

If the Brazilian ace were to leave, the Gers would unarguably need to keep a hold of the former Besiktas star to maintain some sort of semblance in the squad.

The Light Blues could be in for a revamp next summer as well, with several of their players catching a lot of people’s attention with some impressive displays.

Hamza Igamane is one such star who has a host of Premier League teams behind him [Le Matin], and convincing the Moroccan youngster to snub the allure down south next summer could be challenging.

While it’s encouraging to see the Bears develop talented prospects, too many changes to the squad may cause them to fall further behind Celtic.
