Rangers ‘atrocious’ as fury emerges over new public financial reveal from Ibrox

Rangers have been branded “atrocious” after a public financial reveal at Ibrox recently.

The Gers have arguably not been the best of teams off the pitch, being without a chairman and chief executive officer for an extended period this season.

Only in December did Patrick Stewart and Fraser Thornton start their new duties at the Glaswegian outfit.

The Light Blues’ uncertainty off the pitch seemingly affected their on-field performances as they now look a much better side, but certain mismanagement has still led to Rangers fan protests in the last few weeks against the boardroom.

Gary Keown slams Rangers after Philippe Clement admission

Gary Keown has slammed the Bears after Philippe Clement admitted they didn’t have enough money to buy Lyall Cameron in the winter transfer window.

The Scottish Mail on Sunday columnist is furious, as the Gers only had the means of getting the Dundee midfielder on a pre-contract agreement.

While the Belgian manager admits he wanted the 22-year-old right away, the Light Blues were unable to do so due to the financial aspect.

Keown wrote in the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (9 February, page 92): “Just look at Rangers, who no longer have enough money, according to manager Clement, to buy Cameron out of Dundee before the end of his contract.

“That’s what years and years of having to pony up to compensate for atrocious recruitment, endless losses, and useless management of assets get you.”

Nils Koppen trying to turn tide at Ibrox

While the Gers’ recruitment strategy has been subpar over the last few years, Nils Koppen seems to be implementing changes.

The Belgian chief joined the Glaswegian outfit in January 2024 and has grown in influence since being appointed the technical director earlier this season.

Koppen has also made decisions regarding the youth setup of the Bears, and fans have seen several prospects leave on loan or get more minutes in the first team over the last month.

Clement has given the likes of Bailey Rice and Findlay Curtis regular opportunities in recent matches.

The Ibrox faithful will also be delighted to see the likes of Clinton Nsiala and Connor Barron play a significant role in the squad this season.

The Gers seem to be trying to lower the squad’s average age, and Cameron’s addition will only further that goal.

While it may be disappointing for supporters to learn the Bears didn’t have the funds to sign him mid-season, they will be excited about his arrival in the summer.
