Ridvan Yilmaz transfer: Talks continue in £5m Rangers development

Ridvan Yilmaz has consistently been linked with a move away from Rangers in the winter transfer window.

The left-back hasn’t been the first choice at the Gers this season, as Jefte has been preferred in that position.

Since the Brazilian defender’s move last summer, he has progressed immensely and is now attracting interest from some of the biggest teams in England [The Rangers Review].

Jefte’s uncertain future leaves the Light Blues with a crucial decision to make regarding the Turkish defender.

Ridvan Yilmaz transfer talks still on

Galatasaray continue their talks with the Bears for Yilmaz, according to Arda Ozkurt.

The Taktik Mania journalist revealed on his personal X account (8 February) that the Istanbul club want the 23-year-old on loan.

While the transfer window in Scotland closed on 3 February, the full-back could still leave Ibrox as it’s open until 11 February in Turkey.

Rangers are potentially open to the left-back’s exit as they’ve demanded a permanent transfer or a loan with a mandatory buy option.

It has been claimed that the Gers are looking to get around £5million for the former Besiktas ace.

Rangers to sell Ridvan Yilmaz permanently

Yilmaz has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Light Blues this season, but it feels like Philippe Clement fancies other options in the starting lineup.

The Turkish defender has had to play out of position in several games to compensate for the injury issues in the backline.

With the return of James Tavernier, it will arguably be difficult for the 23-year-old to get back into the Belgian manager’s plans in the coming weeks.

Yilmaz will evidently remain a key player for the Bears until the end of the season as they look to end the season on a high note.

While the Scottish Premiership is out of the Glaswegian outfit’s hands, they have other competitions to fight for.

The Gers will face Queen’s Park at Ibrox on Sunday (9 February) in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Yilmaz has missed the last few fixtures due to an injury, and whether he will play against the Scottish Championship outfit remains to be seen.
