Ferguson names Rangers ace who will love Lyall Cameron signing at Ibrox
Lyall Cameron is due to join Rangers in the summer from Dundee.
The Gers agreed a Deadline Day pre-contract to sign the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window.
The Light Blues are said to be paying a compensation fee in the region of £400,000 to gain the midfielder’s services [Daily Record].
Barry Ferguson makes Lyall Cameron prediction at Rangers
Cameron has registered five goals and four assists in 23 Scottish Premiership appearances for Dundee this term and will be eager to push on in the remainder of the campaign before his move to Ibrox.
The exciting 22-year-old is clearly rated by those higher up at the Light Blues but his addition will be sure to make an impact inside the dressing room.
Barry Ferguson has backed this to be the case for one man in particular as he told the Daily Record (7 February): “If I was [Bailey] Rice I would welcome the summer signing of Lyall Cameron from Dundee and I’d want to make sure, between now and the end of the season, the manager knows I’ll be ready to fight him for a place in the starting line up.”
Bailey Rice could benefit from Lyall Cameron signing
Bailey Rice is being slowly introduced into the first-team set-up at Ibrox by Philippe Clement and so far this term, he has made one league appearance while also getting two opportunities in the Europa League squad.
However, Clement did sanction loan exits for two young players in Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo during the winter transfer window, suggesting the boss wants Rice wants to stay put in Glasgow and he may be prepared to use him more in the squad.

Therefore, knowing that another young midfielder in Cameron is set to arrive at Ibrox in the summer, gives Rice a big reason to show the best version of himself between now and the end of the campaign.
The Gers are having a poor season this term and sitting 13 points away from Celtic at the top of the table means there is plenty of work to be done by Clement’s side in cup competitions to try and save the term.
However, it also means there will be plenty of work happening at the Scottish Premiership club as they look forward to be more competitive in the league in the 2025/26 season.
With this in mind, Rice has to stake his claim for a place in the starting line-up between now and the conclusion of the campaign to give him a head start ahead of the arrival of his fellow midfielder in the summer.
Then next term, we will no doubt see a great battle between the two players to fight for minutes in the side.
