Rangers ‘set to miss out on £3m+ windfall’, Ibrox stance could come back to bite

Rangers’ struggling financial situation is no secret in the footballing world, with Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen seeking loan deals, pre-contracts and free transfers.

Due to this, Rafael Fernandes was the only signing during the winter window, albeit Lyall Cameron will be joining in the summer after agreeing a pre-contract, but it is a pretty dire situation.

When compared to their Old Firm rivals Celtic, there is a stark difference between the club’s level of financial stability, and supporters are becoming embarrassed by the Gers off the pitch and in the boardroom.

If Philippe Clement’s side are to continue competing at the top level, in Europe and alongside the Hoops in domestic competitions, they must be looking to significantly better the current transfer model.

The Gers have had quite a simple chance to make a profit on one of their players, who has been in and out of the squad this season, recently losing his spot to one of the newest signings – Jefte.

Rangers keep hold of Ridvan Yilmaz despite Besiktas interest

According to NTV Spor, Besiktas have decided against re-signing Ridvan Yillmaz after the Bears set a new price tag on the player’s head during the winter transfer window.

The Turkish Super Lig giants had been pushing for the 23-year-old’s signature, with their transfer window still open after the UK’s slammed shut, but it looks as though he will remain at Ibrox.

Besiktas are understood to have seen their last-ditch attempt to sign Yilmaz rejected, as per Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, a deal with an initial £830,000 loan fee, with a mandatory £2.5million purchase clause.

With this adding up to over £3.3million, the Light Blues might just be about to throw away their chance of a multi-million-pound payday in Glasgow.

The Light Blues cannot afford to turn down transfer fees like this, so it could be a decision that eventually comes back to bite the hierarchy at Ibrox once the dust settles on the transfer window.

Yilmaz has split opinion in Glasgow with some of his performances, and with Jefte now making the left-back spot his own, there is little need for the Turkish international.

Of course, it is a sensible idea to keep reinforcements on the bench, but rather than keep over £3million on the bench, it seems like a better idea to bring through a youngster or find a cheaper alternative.
