Ridvan Yilmaz exit: Rangers respond to Besiktas offer as talks continue

Rangers and Besiktas are still in “ongoing” negotiations for the transfer of Ridvan Yilmaz, according to SporTurk.

The Turkish outlet reported via their X account (5 February) that the Gers wanted a fee worth over £4.1million for the left-back while Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team offered to spend around £2.49million on the defender.

The report also adds that the 24-year-old has “rejected” other offers from Turkish Super Lig teams when presented with them.

“Besiktas is negotiating with Glasgow Rangers to add Ridvan Yilmaz to his squad as a left back,” the publication wrote.

“Rangers wanted a transfer fee of €5million, while Beşiktaş offered €3million. Negotiations are ongoing.

“Yilmaz played in 20 matches this season, played a total of 1256 minutes on the field and provided 1 goal assist. He previously received several offers from Super League teams but rejected them.”

Rangers cannot allow Ridvan Yilmaz to leave before the end of the season

Yilmaz’s Rangers future seems to be brought under scrutiny in each and every transfer window that comes around.

The left-back is consistently linked with a return to Besiktas and nothing ever ends up coming to fruition.

While there’s always the possibility of the 24-year-old departing Glasgow, it feels like it would be rather silly on the Gers’ behalf to allow the defender to leave without being able to source a replacement.

Yilmaz may not have been Clement’s best player this season but the fact he’s filled in at right-back for the Gers on more than one occasion proves how vital he is to the team at the moment.

When the summer transfer window comes around things might be somewhat different as Clement and Nils Koppen would have time to source a replacement but now the winter window is closed for Rangers, it would make no sense for Yilmaz to be sold whatsoever.
