Mohamed Diomande axed in midfielder change – Rangers predicted XI v Queen’s Park

Philippe Clement could look at dropping Mohamed Diomande from his Rangers starting XI as part of six changes for their Scottish Cup clash against Queen’s Park on Sunday.

The Ivorian has had a question mark hanging over his head for the vast majority of the season but recently he’s managed to come into his own, which is why it would be smart for the Belgian to rest him for Bailey Rice.

The other five changes were likely to see are John Souttar, Nico Raskin, Vaclav Cerny, Ianis Hagi and Cyriel Dessers drop out.

In their place could come Robin Propper, Connor Barron, Nedim Bajrami, Tom Lawrence and Ross McCausland with the Gers sticking with their 4-2-3-1 formation.

In between the sticks will no doubt be Jack Butland, while this might be a good game for Liam Kelly to prove his worth again, it’s felt like Butland is still a bit rusty in recent weeks so he could do with some extra time on the pitch.

The defensive line is where we’re likely to see our first change on the team with James Tavernier and Jefte keeping their places at full-back while Propper comes in for Souttar and Clinton Nsiala keeping his place.

Diomande and Raskin are both likely to sit out and get some well-earned rest with youth gem Rice and Barron to take up the spots in the engine room.

The attack is where we’re likely to see the most change with Cerny, Dessers and Hagi all likely to be rested in order to allow them to focus on more important games.

Leading the attacking line, however, will be Hamza Igamane as, even though the Morocco international deserves some rest, he hasn’t been in the best of form recently and could do with a bit of a confidence booster against Queen’s Park.
