Alan Brazil aims Rangers dig at Ally McCoist after what he saw in his house

Ally McCoist was told to take his own silverware into the Ibrox as Alan Brazil took a swipe at the Rangers trophy cabinet.

Speaking on talkSPORT (5 February, 7:52am), Brazil spotted a small trophy behind McCoist’s shoulder as the Ibrox legend broadcasted from his home studio, and couldn’t resist a dig at the Bears.

Brazil’s Celtic recently overtook the Light Blues as Scotland’s most successful club by beating them on penalties in the League Cup Final, winning their 119th major trophy to the Gers’ 118.

Brazil said: “Ally, just look over your right shoulder, I’ve just had a great thought…

“What about this for a thought – have you thought about taking that into Ibrox, that wee cup up there? Can you not lend them it?”

Rangers can still recover trophy deficit this season

Ask any neutral which of the two Old Firm sides is likely to pick up silverware at the next available opportunity, most would say Celtic at the moment given their healthy lead in the Premiership title race.

The Gers’ arch-rivals sit 10 points clear of Philippe Clement’s side at the summit with a game in hand, yet their only league defeat came in a 3-0 drubbing on January 2, as they were put to the sword at Ibrox.

That watershed Old Firm victory – Clement’s first in six attempts – has proven that the Bears can beat Celtic when they bring their a-game, and that will give supporters confidence of doing so again.

Celtic’s lead at the top of the Premiership may look unassailable, but the Gers have two other trophies still on offer this season, in the form of the Scottish Cup and the Europa League.

Clement’s side’s form in Europe already has them in the Last 16, and if they can produce another dominant display against Celtic in a Scottish Cup semi or final, the Gers could get to 119 or 120 trophies before their arch-rivals do.

In other Rangers news, the Bears have learned how much they’ll have to pay once their latest signing completes his switch.
