Jefte ‘will be gutted’ as lucrative offer rejected at Rangers amid exit update

Jefte will be unhappy at Rangers after a lucrative contract offer was turned down on deadline day.

The Brazilian signed for the Gers from Fluminese in the summer and has gone on to be a regular at Ibrox, making 22 appearances in the Scottish Premiership.

Regardless of this, no move went through and the left-back looks set to remain in Govan for the rest of the season, which may have taken a negative turn after the latest transfer update.

Jefte will be gutted by latest Rangers transfer update

The ex-APOEL Nicosia ace has faced his main competition in the Light Blues side from Ridvan Yilmaz who has made 20 appearances of his own this campaign.

It had looked like Jefte was set to win the battle to become the main left-back at Ibrox as the Turkyie international was linked with a return to Besiktas.

The prospect of this has taken a blow after the 23-year-old opted to turn down a “high offer” from the Super Lig side after being left outraged by the proposal [Yagız Sabuncuoglu].

This could point towards the Turkish defender remaining in G51 for the rest of the season which could be damaging to his Brazilian counterpart.

With Yilmaz’s future set to be secured until the end of the campaign at least, Philippe Clement may be keen to utilise him as a regular starter while he has the chance.

As a result, Jefte will become an afterthought and potentially forced to play out of position on occasion which is sure to be gutting for the 21-year-old.
