Vaclav Cerny transfer: Rangers to seal ‘excellent business’ in £7m deal
Rangers will complete an excellent piece of business if they sign Vaclav Cerny on a permanent transfer, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist believes signing the Czechia international for up to £7million would represent great value for the Light Blues.
Cerny is currently on loan at the Gers from Wolfsburg, and the German outfit want around £8m for the forward [Kicker, 22 January].
Speaking on Hotline Live (2 February), Jackson said: “The fee between £6–£7m for Cerny would represent an excellent bit of business with great value.”
Rangers to splash the cash of Vaclav Cerny transfer?
The Light Blues have spent big money in the past on the likes of Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes, who haven’t offered much during their time at Ibrox.
While Cerny would seemingly be good for his potential value, whether Nils Koppen and the recruitment team will want to push for a permanent transfer remains to be seen.
There has been an apparent shift to signing young players at the Glaswegian outfit, and the 27-year-old does not seem to fit those plans.
Rangers have relied on the winger’s creativity in the final third this season as he has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists under Philippe Clement.

The Bears need to change their business model to become more profitable in the future, but Cerny could help them compete in the short term.
While £7m is a significant outlay, the Czechia international has proven his worth in the current campaign.
If the 27-year-old isn’t signed, the Light Blues will arguably have to go into the market and take a gamble on an unknown player to bolster their ranks.
